Things to do with kids in Stratford
Stratford's transformation since 2012 has been genuinely remarkable and families are among the biggest beneficiaries. The Olympic Park was designed with children in mind from the start: wide paths, multiple playgrounds, seasonal water play, and the enormous scale of the whole thing means kids can run and roam without feeling penned in. Tumbling Bay playground is one of the best in London and the Discover Children's Story Centre is a reliably excellent indoor option for any weather.
KidZania is Stratford's big-ticket option: expensive but genuinely different from everything else, with kids role-playing adult jobs in a remarkably convincing miniature city. Book well in advance and allow at least three hours. For a free half-day that still delivers, the Olympic Park and Tumbling Bay together need no budget at all and consistently produce very happy, very tired children.
Wide open, flat, and brilliantly designed for families, this is the park that Stratford deserves. Tumbling Bay playground is the standout: sand, water, rock pools, and enough space that you can sit down without losing your kid. The splash pad runs April to September.
One of London's best adventure playgrounds, with sand and water play, climbing structures, and a stream that kids inevitably end up in. No need to book, just turn up. The Timber Lodge Cafe nearby is excellent for refuelling after the inevitable soaking.
Indoor city where kids role-play adult jobs: firefighter, doctor, pilot, radio DJ, and 15 others. Brilliant for ages 4-7 who want to do rather than just watch. Located in Westfield Shepherd's Bush, which gives you plenty of lunch options nearby.
